Manchay, Peru - 2008

On September 9th, thirteen people from Colorado and California will visit Manchay with the express purpose of building homes for 8 families. By September 23rd forty six people, ages senior to newborn, will be living in new homes donated by members of Lord of the Mountains Lutheran Church and numerous other friends from around the country.

Each home will be built on a cement slab and furnished with beds, mattresses, pillows, curtains, linens, towels, dishes, stoves, tables, chairs, pots, utensils and shelving. While some homes will be larger then others and will require more furnishings, the average cost per house to build and furnish is $1600. So far $12,200 has been raised towards this goal. In addition to the money needed to complete the homes it is hoped that enough will be raised to purchase a new cement mixer. Approximately $4,000 more is needed.

To see photos and descriptions of the families and their needs please continue to the picture pages.

To donate, send a check to Lord of the Mountains Lutheran Church, PO Box 1059, Dillon, Colorado, 80435. Note Peru on the memo line.

Thanks for your generosity and interest!
